We will continue to work on “Work Style Innovation of Individuals and the Organization” toward the realization of sustainable growth of both companies and society.

The Company has worked on “Work Style Innovation of Individuals and the Organization” as the core for all measures in the mid-term business plan BF-2, and we aim to realize “self-directed and creative work styles” by improving operational efficiency through an improvement of business processes and the use of IT as well as enhancing the work-from-home system aiming to reduce SG&A expense ratio.

Major progress in fiscal 2021 and future initiatives

  • Expanded the scope of eligible employees for the work-from-home system and introduced vaccination leave as efforts to promote diverse work styles
  • Improve operational efficiency in response to changes in work styles including the use of IT
  • Established a selection-type training system to develop expatriates and the next-generation leaders
  • Increase the ratio of female new graduates employed

Achievements

Discontinued certain operations and improved processes
  • Cumulative number of operational improvements from fiscal 2018 to 2021: 985
  • Reduction rate of meeting hours across the Company for four years from fiscal 2018 to 2021: 51.8%
  • Promoted an improvement of operational efficiency in response to changes in work styles including streamlining and paperless operations by “discontinuing,” “consolidating,” and “changing” operations
  • Streamlined operations using IT and RPA
    Example: Placing orders for raw materials using bar codes/Shortened and streamlined the approval procedure by introducing a simplified workflow/Automated routine work by using RPA tools

Promoted health and productivity management
  • Formed the “Healthy and Enthusiastic Workplace Creation Team” toward the realization of the “Employee Health Management Declaration”
  • Implemented “no dress code” throughout the year at Head Office
  • Provided employees with exercise opportunities by distributing exercise and online Yoga videos and planning online sports day, etc. to strengthen health management during the COVID-19 pandemic and prevent fatigue, lack of physical activity, and weight gain
  • Recognized in the “2018, 2019, 2021 Health & Productivity Stock Selection” and the “2019, 2021 Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations Recognition Program (White 500)”

Implemented DX and online access in various activities
  • Accelerated digital marketing activities to strengthen communication with potential customers and share customer information. Enhanced IT platform to centrally manage customer information
  • Set up a technical consultation desk on our website to create new connections with potential customers. Technical consultations are handled quickly and remotely by sales representatives and technical personnel
  • Opened a special site BANDO SHOWROOM for Food Industry, which led to the acquisition of new customers and orders. Held many other webinars
  • Made the utmost use of the remote environment and conducted online recruiting that can convey the Company's atmosphere to students, which increased the number of applications and invigorated recruiting. Management efficiency also improved through digitization of submitted documents

Expanded the scope of the work-from-home system
  • Introduced the work-from-home system in April 2018, which was only available for employees caring for their children or family members
  • Expanded eligible employees for the work-from-home system tentatively to those other than above in March 2020 as a preventive measure against COVID-19
  • As the above measure was made available for a prolonged time, we made it a permanent system, rather than a tentative measure to prevent infections, and from April 2021, allowed all employees to work from home if they can improve productivity by concentrating self-directedly
  • Realized “diverse work styles” to achieve better results in the entire organization by combining “work-from-home” with the “work style where employees work together at office and exchange and develop ideas”
