The Group is accelerating its multifaceted initiatives to realize carbon neutrality by 2050, including introduction of solar power generation systems in Japan and overseas and high-efficiency equipment, and acquisition of third-party verification of GHG emissions.

Since the initial installation at Wakayama Plant in January 2011, the Group has significantly expanded the installation of solar power generation systems, which are now operational across domestic and overseas business facilities. We enhanced our generation capacity at Wakayama Plant in 2022 and at Thai subsidiary in 2024, steadily reducing CO2 emissions (Scope 2) as a result.
By expanding solar power adoption particularly at overseas bases, we aim to achieve cumulative Scope 2 reduction effects and will also continue to actively work to reduce Scope 1 and 3 emissions to steadily drive progress toward carbon neutrality.

The Group has been actively promoting upgrades to high-efficiency equipment, including introduction of high-efficiency boilers and new calendering lines*1 using schemes such as ASSET *2, ESCO*3, and Joint Crediting Mechanism*4.
Under the Mid-Term Management Plan (CV-1) launched in 2023, we are also systematically introducing energy-saving equipment, etc. In addition, we have identified energy loss reduction as one of the material issues and are implementing measures at each office to ensure steady progress toward achieving our goals.
*1 Plant equipment centered on a calender machine used to process products into rolls
*2 ASSET: Advanced technologies promotion Subsidy Scheme with Emission reduction Targets
*3 ESCO (Energy Service Company): A business in which all costs associated with energy-saving renovations are covered by savings in utility costs
*4 Joint Crediting Mechanism: A bilateral system under which developed countries provide technology and financial support to developing countries and count the resulting CO2 emission reductions toward their own reduction targets.
Bando (India) Pvt. Ltd.
Lowered the CO2 emission factor and reduced CO2 emissions by enabling boilers that previously used LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) to also operate on natural gas
Ashikaga Plant
Reduced CO2 emissions by decommissioning hot water boilers that used A‐type heavy oil
Kakogawa Plant
Reduced CO2 emissions by upgrading to high-efficiency boilers and renewing motors
Nankai Plant
Reduced CO2 emissions by installing inverters on motors and upgrading to high-efficiency compressors

We acquired a third-party verification from SOCOTEC Certification Japan for the Company in July 2024 and for the Group in July 2025, to ensure that users of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data can make decisions with reasonable assurance. By acquiring the verification, the GHG emissions data disclosed by the Company has been verified as fair and accurate by an independent third-party organization.
The assessment to receive verification was conducted with a primary focus on verifying compliance with our internally defined “GHG emissions calculation procedures.” For the Company, the verification of Scope 1 and 2 emissions from five domestic offices for fiscal 2023 was conducted, with all relevant data from these five offices reviewed and on-site inspections carried out at selected locations. The assessment covered not only the results of GHG emissions calculations, but also the entire calculation process.
