Toward the Realization of “Bando Dream Factory” by 2050

We will closely align Guideline 2 “Creation of smart manufacturing” in the new mid-term management plan with our material issue of “product/process innovation.”

Toward the Realization of “Bando Dream Factory” by 2050

The Group defined the ideal state of manufacturing to realize the long-term vision (Vision 2050) as “Bando Dream Factory: Eco- and people-friendly and exciting manufacturing that creates quality and productivity with an overwhelming competitive advantage.”
With a view to realizing the “Bando Dream Factory,” we will work to shift to renewable energy toward carbon neutrality, reduce emissions of environmentally hazardous substances, and develop smart manufacturing methods that create an overwhelming competitive advantage in terms of quality and cost. We will also provide new value to society and customers by promoting the development of products including materials, the development of facilities and processing technology and procurement from the perspective of carbon neutrality and by realizing the autonomous work style utilizing digital technology.

Pursue Sustainability through
“Creation of Smart Manufacturing”

In the new mid-term management plan “CV-1” covering up to fiscal 2026, which was developed with a backcasting approach based on the long-term vision (Vision 2050), we set “Creation of smart manufacturing” as Guideline 2 to prepare for the “Bando Dream Factory,” and we will work on “safe, secure, and environmentally friendly manufacturing,” “development of smart manufacturing methods,” and “creation of high quality and profitability.”
Especially for the “development of smart manufacturing methods,” we will use digital technologies such as AI and IoT to promote the transition to processes that do not rely on human skills, show the path to the “autonomous line” that lies ahead, and aim to establish a model line.

Development of digital human resources at production sites

So far, we had conducted cross-division study group activities for the purpose of digitizing production sites. From fiscal 2023, we started to further refine the contents and develop digital human resources who will be responsible for the development of smart manufacturing methods.
To promote smart manufacturing, it is especially essential to utilize big data using AI and machine learning. Therefore, we plan to use external training courses in addition to in-house education providing education and training at the same time to improve skills of digital human resources.
